A Prayer

This is from something I wrote about 11 years ago while I was in college. I hope you dig it. It makes me think of how much I loved music back then. I think I've changed some, but this is how I feel about the art.
Lord, make me an instrument of your love,
Help me to understand myself, along with the universe.
Help me to take in the need, the love and passion for
This great thing called passion.
I would like to have the passion to appreciate the worth of human nature
Wherein I breathe the breath of my soul in which
it can go further through life and it can also
tell me my conscience
Whether it be bad or good, I want to know
The true meaning of life.
I love you O Lord, My God,
I appreciate my faults in life.
You have given me a gift of expression,
Through music I can speak over 10,0000 languages through my voice.
I love you for that
I love you for this.
I have this sweet sense of knowledge
Because of you
I want to live the life of a pauper with the riches of
Wisdom
Through wisdom, I can erase this funkness of this rash reality
And make it into a love, a sweet harmless dance of soul

Night

I wrote these lyrics in collaboration with Discopoet Khari B. This written for a composition by the composer Tomeka Reid for the Englewood Jazz Festival. Text in bold is by Discopoet.
A Journey Begins with sudden light. Night! With a constant passage thru the light. Just look for a fantastic sight in view with a taste of the soul. we move in the night we live in the light then, there, now, with time. Now hear it. The bustle of the crowd. Joy!!!!! Waiting for the one who's yet to come. They see how the great glories of the past will return the bright light. we move in the night we live in the light then there now with timewe move in the night we live in the light then, there, now, with time, With a sound, With your heart in the night there's light!!!! With a sound, With your heart in the night there's light!!!

A Play of Lyrics

I love you music. Seriously I do. You make me feel so young even when My foolish heart doesn't know what love is. Time after Time I think about you, day in day out. I wish you would come fly with me to Brazil. Maybe we could take aa slow boat to china. Maybe no, I might catch a fever. But if we do I could tell you a bed time story about dolphins dancing on the waterfront. I know these are foolish things, but I have dreamed about you. SOmeone told me that I should forget about it and darn that dream. It doesn't matter where or when you know. It's some kind of witchcraft that you have over me. Let's just go crusin' till we see that midnight sun. We could go here some musicians play and see the guy slap that bass. Even Mr. Paganini might be there. Or we could go play in the grass and watch the little bunnies with their little cottontails. I'm sure I can make some sort of impression. Anyway. it's great. S'wonderful. I care about you and that's all. PEace
